Settling In Process

We understand that settling in is a critical phase not only for new children but especially for parents who are also on this new journey.

Under COVID conditions it has been hard to be as interactive as we would like with new parents, but please see the process and responsibilities below, which we hope will help your childs transition go smoothly.

The team lead for each room is to settle all new children.

They will be their key person for the 1st 6 weeks whilst the child is settling in.

They will be responsible for:
• Settling in the child.
• Parent partnership.
• Ensuring the learning journal is ready for the new child

Summative assessment starting points on 3 prime areas from parent/carer.
Child record form completed at 1st settling in.

Communication and language sheet completed within the first 6 weeks.

First 5 settling in sheets with parent/carer feedback.

First 6 weeks sheet with parent/carer feedback.

They will also be responsible for parent/carer handover at end of sessions to ensure feedback on their session is given and any problems dealt with immediately.

The team lead key person will be responsible for ensuring a smooth transition to the child’s permanent key person and introducing them to the parent/carer with the role of the key person.

At Beech Tree Childcare we offer flexible contracted hours and charge by the hour, not by the session. Our current hourly rate is £7.00 per hour/£5.50 per sibling. Meals can be provided at Beech Tree Childcare at a cost of £3.50 per meal. All children must attend a minimum of 11 hours per week.

Applying for Free childcare for 2 year olds

Find out if your 2 year old is eligible for free childcare and how to apply.

Free entitlement to childcare is provided by the Government. It allows some 2 year olds access to free, good quality, flexible early education or childcare.

Children can use up to 570 hours each year, or a maximum of 15 hours over 38 weeks, from a pre-school, nursery or an accredited childminder who are registered to offer free places.

The childcare provider must be rated ‘Satisfactory’, ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ in their most recent Ofsted report to be authorised to offer free childcare.

Your childcare provider shouldn’t charge you as the entitlement is for a free place rather than a subsidy towards your fees. However, they can set their own rates for any additional time or services that you take. They should let you know in advance what you will be expected to pay.

Applying for Free childcare for 3/4 year olds

Find how to get free childcare for your 3 or 4 year old.

Free entitlement to childcare is provided by the government for all 3 and 4 year olds. It allows access to free, good quality, flexible early education and childcare through a pre-school, nursery or childminder that is registered to offer free places.

  • Universal free entitlement – For all 3 and 4 year olds. Children can use up to 570 hours each year, or a maximum of 15 hours over 38 weeks.
  • Extended free entitlement (also known as 30 hours free childcare) – For eligible working parents of 3 and 4 year olds. Children can use an additional 570 hours each year, or a maximum of 30 hours per week over 38 weeks (1140 hours in total). If the funding is spread over a longer period, the amount of hours taken per week would be reduced. Parents must apply online to the government to confirm their eligibility.

A child moving to reside in England from another country is entitled to universal free entitlement on the same basis as any other child, regardless of whether they have British citizenship.
